Went to watch a couple of movies last week.
First off, went to watch “Up!” I was thoroughly entertained. It was a little sad, at the beginning, but I felt they did a very nice job of story telling. Also, the animation was well, done, too. There was lots for the younger kids to see and plenty of story content for the for the adults.
Next went to see Land of the Lost. Now, most people who know me, know that I advocate seeing various renditions of a things. It’s almost like going to see Shakespeare’s “Richard III” every year at the park, jsut to see what the current director’s take is on a time honored classic. So, with that in mind, I felt that since Land of the Lost was coming out on my birthday and I was a fan of the original show, when it first aired, I needed to go see this.
Whoa. Okay, all the visuals were there, and updated, too. It was interesting to see the triple rows of shark teeth in the Sleestak’s mouth. Scary. However, the humor was typical Will Ferrell. The first time the crud humor is used, yes, very funny. The 23′rd time, not so funny and, in all actuality, a bit of a drag. I found myself beginning to be distracted from the (too rushed and too limited) story line by all the crud humor attempts. All in all, though, it was a playful romp as a spoof to the Sid and Marty Croft classic. Though I can see why it was a distant third place at the box-office this weekend. Whew.
